–,Birds of Prey is an American television drama series. The series was developed by Laeta Kalogridis for The WB and is loosely based on the DC Comics series of the same name. The series takes place in a Gotham City abandoned by Batman.

Contents Plot outlineThe series is set in New Gotham City, several years after it has been apparently abandoned by Batman. In his absence, Oracle (Barbara Gordon) and the Huntress (Helena Kyle) have taken over his war on crime.
The two are joined by Dinah Redmond, a telepath (after she assists them in defeating Larry Ketterly); Alfred Pennyworth, who serves Helena as she is heir to the Wayne estate; and Detective Jesse Reese, a police officer confronted with crimes and abilities he cannot explain.A central feature of the series is the concept of metahumans: individuals born with powers that cannot be explained. No two metahumans have the same abilities (unless hereditary), and there exists a whole subculture of metahuman society that the outside world knows nothing about.Detective Reese reluctantly teams up with Huntress and the other Birds of Prey to defeat metahuman criminals. At first, he disapproves of Helena's vigilantism, even trying to arrest her, but eventually he realizes there is a need for the Birds of Prey to take down criminals the police cannot handle.During the course of the show, the Birds of Prey often confront schemes masterminded by Dr.
Harleen Quinzel (Harley Quinn), though they are unaware of her involvement until the final episode of the series.

Prey is a television crime thriller first broadcast on ITV, 28 April 2014 at 9pm. ITV first announced the new commission on their official Twitter account on 23 August 2013.[1] A second series was announced in April 2015 and began airing on 9 December 2015.[2][3]
Storylines[edit]
Series 1[edit]
The first story stars John Simm as Detective Constable Marcus Farrow, a well-liked detective with the fictional Manchester Metropolitan Police and an ex-husband with two children. His life falls apart when he finds his ex-wife and one of his sons murdered, and all the evidence points to him. Discovered at the scene of the crime, Marcus is arrested, but later escapes and goes on-the-run, determined to find who killed his family, and why.
Series 2[edit]
The story stars Philip Glenister as Prison Officer David Murdoch. His life becomes very complicated when, on a routine visit to a Manchester hospital with female prisoner Jules Hope, events spiral out of control. David receives a cell phone call from his pregnant daughter Lucy, who has been kidnapped, pleading for him to take his prisoner Jules offsite to a meet, otherwise Lucy will be killed. He does so, and instantly sees himself on the wrong side of the law.[2]
Filming for the second series began in May 2015, before screening from 9–23 December 2015.

John Simm won a Royal Television Society North West Award for 'Best Male Performance' in the first series of Prey. The series was also nominated for a 2015 BAFTA Television Award in the category 'Mini Series'.[11]
